Dr. Mason Chandler, DVM

Dr. Chandler came to Montgomery after accepting an associate’s position at Golden Animal Hospital – East in May of 2015. He is an active member of his church, a music enthusiast, enjoys sports, an exercise buff, and an avid Auburn football fan. Though he began his career at Golden Animal Hospital – East without the love a four-legged family member, his heart was soon stolen by a Chihuahua named Tank and a Tabby cat named Sadie. He currently lives in Pike Road with his fur children.

Dr. Mason Chandler was born and raised in Birmingham. Born with a love for animals and a never-ending curiosity about medicine, he decided to combine the two interests and in the winter of 2010, he received his Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Sciences from Auburn University and in May of 2015 went on to receive his doctoral degree from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. His professional interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, and client education.

Amber Viox, Office Manager

Amber’s father was in the military so she moved around some when she was younger. She was born in Mississippi, spent 12 years in Tucson, AZ and moved to Montgomery, AL when she was a senior in high-school. After graduating from Montgomery Catholic, she attended Auburn University of Montgomery where she received her B.S. in Biology. While going to college, she worked full time at Golden Animal Hospital’s Eastchase location for five years as a veterinary assistant. Shortly after graduating she moved to Wilmington, NC with her husband and after 9 months decided to move back home. She started working at Golden Animal Hospital again and could not be happier working at such a phenomenal place and with an amazing staff. Amber has recently been named Office Manager of the Atlanta Highway location.

Veterinary medicine is Amber’s passion and she could not imagine working in any other field. She plans on attending Jefferson State’s Veterinary Technology program in the spring of 2017 so that she can become a licensed vet tech. She loves emergency medicine and rehabilitation. She has over 9 months experience working in an emergency clinic and has also received certification for class IV K-lasers. She continues to strive to advance her skills and knowledge in this field. Outside of work she loves being outdoors and doing activities such as swimming, jogging, hiking and spending time with her family. Avelia currently works full time with our Atlanta Highway family as a veterinary assistant but, occasionally, you may see her as one of our receptionists. While working with us full time, Avelia is also attending Auburn University of Montgomery to achieve her B.S in Psychology.

Although Avelia wishes she can have a farm of her own with a variety of animals, she currently only has 3 pets. She owns a domestic shorthair cat named Diesel, who thinks he’s a rebel, and two dogs: Lilly (in picture) who’s an English Pointer that loves to hunt quail birds, and Shyla, a rescue from the Montgomery Humane Society who is a Chinese Shar Pei mix that’s spoiled rotten and a true “momma’s girl.

While Avelia isn’t working or studying, she enjoys spending time with her friends & family, working out at the gym, outdoor activities, spoiling her pets, traveling, and watching Steelers & Alabama football. ROLL TIDE!

Ashley Scanlan, Reception

Ashley Scanlan was born right here in Montgomery, Alabama, moved to Prattville when she was 10 years old, and has lived there ever since. Ashley loves dogs and her favorite breed is the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel; she has one named Harvey that has brought nothing but joy to her life (pictured). Ashley is a big sister to her ½ brother Graysen and is definitely a Daddy’s Girl. Her grandmother, “Ganny” as she calls her, has been one of the biggest influences on Ashley’s life and is also her very best friend. She enjoys spending her free time either relaxing at Ganny’s house with her pup, hanging out at her boyfriend’s house, water skiing on Lake Martin if it’s the summer time, or traveling in the winter. Ashley loves the big cities such as New York and Atlanta but will never turn down a drive to the countryside listening to Thomas Rhett or Brett Eldridge on the radio.

Ashley has began her studies at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and is slowly taking classes until she makes up her mind on what she wants her main career focus to be. There are so many fields that grab her interest but working with people tends to be the main attraction. She is definitely a people person and never meets a stranger.
If you asked Ashley to describe herself in one word her answer would be ‘Blessed’. Ashley feels like she would not be where she is today if it wasn’t for the saving grace of Jesus Christ. She feels very lucky to have such a loving and supportive group of family members and friendships which makes her life imperfectly perfect.
